Swarna Special: Yummy Chutney

Input Ingredients:

Main ingredients: 1 cup Shredded Coconut, 1/4th cup split chana dal (daria or putnala pappu), tamarind as per taste, salt as per need.

Spices: Garlic (3 pods), ginger (1 slice), dried red chilies (3 to 4), a strand of curry leaves

Preparation time: 5 to 7 minutes

Process:

1. Shred the fresh coconut. You can use the frozen shredded coconut if fresh coconut is unavailable.

2. Chop the ginger.

3. Heat a pan.

4. In the low to medium heat, roast the red chilies, garlic, split chana dal.

5. After roasting, wait till the ingredients cool down.

6. In the grinder, put the shredded coconut, roasted chilies, split chana dal, tamarind, a strand of curry leaves, ginger, garlic, salt.

7. Add only little water.

8. Bring the mixture to a smooth paste.

9. Chutney is ready.

10. Giving tempering (tadka) is optional. To make the chutney tastier, you can give the tempering only if you feel so. For tempering, heat a pan, put a little oil, once the oil is hot put mustard, cumin seeds, black gram, curry leaves and pour it on the chutney.

Output:

Wholesome scrumptious chutney. This comes good with idlis, dosas and even as a side dish for rice.
